Split Decisions

One of us may have loved it while another of us may have hated it.  Retreat to your corners…split decision! :)  If anything, it makes for some great book discussions!

 

“Protection” by T. Baggins

• Katinka says she was a “blubbering mess with a smile on my face” (5 stars)
• Sheri says “uncomfortable” is the best way to describe how she felt about this book (3 stars)

“King Mai” by Edmond Manning

• Jenni & Sue each put this as one of their favorite reads of 2014 (4.5 – 5 stars)
• Susan started the first few pages, felt oddly creeped out by the stalker’ish tone, and set it down (started, finish later)

 

“Chance Assassin” by Nicole Castle

• Shelley gushed over this “strange, twisted, and quirky” love story (4.5 stars)
• Xing was already skimming by 10% in (DNF)

 

“Special Delivery” by Heidi Cullinan

“Slide” by Garrett Leigh

• Sara was consumed by Pete & Ash’s story (5 stars)
• Ilhem the prologue was strong, but the rest pushed all her ‘irritating’ buttons (2 stars)

 

“Love Lessons” by Heidi Cullinan

• Susan found it sweet, lovely, yet powerful (4.5 stars)
• Shelley says “SO boring!” (2.5 stars)

“The Magpie Lord” by KJ Charles

• Ami, Susan and Tracy found the writing fantastic (Tracy listed it as her favorite read of 2013!) (4 – 5 stars)
• Jenni DNF’d at 39% and couldn’t connect with the characters

“Bone Rider” by J Fally

• Shelley threw down a crush alert and said it was “thoroughly entertaining” (5 stars)
• Ami DNF’d at 20%, feeling completed “detached”

“The Elegant Corpse” by AM Riley

• Katinka & Ami found this to be a well-written mystery (4 – 4.5 stars)
• Shelley thought that aside from the opening paragraph, the rest was mediocre at best (2 stars)

“Zero at the Bone” by Jane Seville

• Susan loved the odd pairing and it’s on Tracy’s favorites shelf (4 – 5 Stars)
• Shelley could not get past D’s weird dialect (DNF)

“Dark Soul Vol 3” by Aleksandr Voinov

• Shelley, Sue, and Ilhem thought it was twistedly brilliant (5 stars)
• Sheri was a OH-HELL-NO with the brotherly love  (no rating)

“Grey’s Awakening” by Cameron Dane

• Ilhem and Susan found this smutfest fun (3.5 – 4 stars)
• Katinka could NOT have liked it less! (1 star)

“How to Repair a Mechanical Heart” by JC Lillis

• Ami, Sheri, and Susan love this geeky, sweet book (4 – 5 stars)
• Shelley did not embrace the fandom (DNF)

“East” by Domashita Romero

• Katinka shelved it as “awesomely-crazy” (5 stars)
• Ami did not like the vulgarity (2 stars)

“Drunk Text” by Seventhswan

• Sue found this entertaining (4 stars)
• Susan couldn’t get over the amateur writing (2 stars)

“Cut & Run” by Abigail Roux & Madeline Urban

• Ilhem, Sheri, Susan, and the WORLD enjoyed this intro to Ty & Zane (4 stars)
• Katinka was unimpressed, to say the least. :) (1 star) …Ami & Tracy DNF’d it!

“Noah” by Ben Ryder

• Sheri was captivated & charmed (5 stars)
• Ami did not like the timeline issues (2 stars)

“Butterfly Hunter” by Julie Bozza

• Ami, Jenni and Susan found this story lovely (on Susan’s favorites list!) (4-5 stars)
• Sue might be too jaded for this slow-moving tale (2.5 stars)
